Hi All: My Fordson petrol Dexta stays in 1st gear even though the stick is in the crossbar of the H and will not move anywhere but side-ways. Is this a problem with the business end of the stick or the transmission itself? Replies appreciated.
cheers

I have a Fordson Dexta Diesel, a 62, and I also had this problem. I took the gear shift selector, stuck it in the vice, and welded all the away around the end. I then took my angle grinder and smoothed it out even around it. I've never had that problem since. Becarfull not to get it too hot, when you weld it.
Hope this helps.
Bruce.

Hi,Gerry, I'm the guy who owns a gas dexta like yours. I have the same problem. If I don't shift accurately to the "H" pattern,it jambs in gear. I have to remove the shifter and re-center the slides & shifter. Can you help me find a head gasket for that engine?? So far,,it's like hunting for a rear strut assembly on a 2078 alien spaceship! Please,,ANY comments,,

BOB

Hi Bob
Thanks for the reply, anyone else have this experience? No idea where you can get a head gasket. Is it not possible to buy generic gasket material and make one? Don"t know for sure just a guess.
cheers
