I just bought a Dexta Diesel and would like to paint it. I understand the original colors were blue for the tractor and orange for the wheels. What color were the grills painted? I'm not really sure of the year model. I think it is a 1957-1958? Does anyone have the paint code numbers for the above colors? Thanks for any advice or help.

Hi there;
The Fordson Dexta was launched in 1957, this version had headlights on the sides of the hood and the name Fordson Dexta on a chrome badge down the centre bar between the grills. The colour of the tractor was EMPIRE BLUE which is a British Standard colour still available in England. The wheel centres and grills were mid-orange colour - most people use the orange used on Howard rotavators.
The Dextas built from April 1960 onwards had the same blue & orange colours, the headlights were mounted inside the grills, and the grill colour was silver. The last models from 1963 to 1965 were painted a lighter shade of blue called IMPERIAL BLUE, wheel centres, fenders and grills were now painted light oatmeal colour (NOT Ford light grey). You had the Super Major 5000 and Super Dexta 2000 designated models exported to the USA, but not the Dexta. Some tractor dealers in the UK did send some over secondhand. I grew up with Fordson Dexta, Super Dexta and Super Majot tractors in the UK in the 1960s. I rebuilt a 1962 Super Dexta to concours condition 3 years ago.
Trust this information is helpfull to you, always please to correspond with tractor enthusiasts and give assistance if possible. This is my first attempt to work e-mail. David M Bate. 12 Aston Court Mews, Shifnal. TF11 8TP. Shropshire. ENGLAND>

David - My Super Dexta (SN 09A315356), which I believe to be a 1961, is blue with oatmeal wheels.
Is this the correct combination or has a previous owner swapped wheels? If you can provide the appropriate paint codes, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for any info you can provide. Harry

David: Appreciate your response about Dexta paint colors. This is an area I do not have much expertise in. Because all of the later model Fordson tractors were produced in the UK, precise
paint codes have escaped us in the US. I have seen the Empire Blue paint code listed on this site. Could you access and post precise paint codes for the Fordson blue and orange that you
mentioned? There have been numerous posts over the past year, including several on this new page for Fordsons but I have not been able to assist in this area. Thank you David... you did well on your first post.
