I own a Ford 600 Tractor. It starts up with no problem, and will run effortlessly until it is put under any kind of load. I have replaced carb and have made what I think to be correct adjustments to it, however am still experiencing same problem.
Gas tank, fuel lines are all clean. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? HELP!

Look for some obvious simple things first. Is air filter plugged up, is exhaust pipe mashed by driving over somthing?

Just a thought, but see if your governor is reacting when engine is being put under load. A governor that's bad won't try to pick when engine is put under load, and tractor will stall..... .

sounds like an ignition problem to me: look at the points for shiny contact and plenty of material on the points, consider changing the condenser. If you know how and have the equipment, set the low idle timing at slightly advance of factory specs (gas not as good as back then) - and look to see that the high rpm advance is working. Coil could be going bad. After ignition, you may have to look at compression, but that shouldn't start suddenly unless you burned a valve or something.

My old Oliver 77 had the same type of problem. The distributer cap was almost a complete open from the center contact on the inside to the outside center plug or it is the main plug wire coming from the coil to the distributer. The plug wire will ohm out fine but will short out under a load. Hope that helps...
