Bob, I figured out what 21023c is. The first #2 means 2000 tractor. The second and third digit (10) means "agricultural all purpose". The fourth digit (2) means gasoline powered. The fifth digit (3) means it has live 540 PTO. The sixth digit (c) means it has an eight speed transmission. All this info came out of the Ford repair manual. My references yesterday to serial number and date code info is still correct. A 2000 tractor will have drum brakes, no planetary final drives, and (in your case) a live PTO with a double clutch.

Question number one is is it 4-cyl or 3-cyl? If 4 cyl it is 1964 or earlier; if 3 1965 or later. There were models 2000 and 4000 in both types. If 4 cyl., the 21023c could be a model number for a 4-cyl. 2000, but it has a couple too many characters. Go to Link for some good information to help ID the tractor.

The number 21023c I dont recognize. It could be an engine or transmission serial number. C173894 is the tractor serial number- "C" designates a tractor built in the states, 173894 is a sequential build number. 7E04 is the unit code, otherwise known as the build date. "7" means 1967, "E" means May (A is Jan., B is Feb, etc.). "04" is the 4th day of the month. So your tractor was built on May 4, 1967. A true 4000 tractor will have a 3 cylinder engine, independant PTO, wet disc brakes, and planetary final drives. Horsepower of this tractor is approx. 45-50.
