Tach drive on 5000

I bought a 1975 Ford 5000 about a year ago, and it has a alternator on it, no tach drive. Question is does anyone make an alternator with a tach drive for this tractor or do I have to go back to a generator with the drive. Put in a new instrument cluster and it would be nice to have a working tach.

Thanks for any info, NOHOG

I believe if you look around in the parts store of this site you will find a Delco 10si alt with a tach drive for that application. They aren't particularly cheap but neither is a new cluster, angle drive, cable and fuel and temp sensors to install the new cluster if you want to convert to the more modern angle drive in the engine.
Reinstalling a generator and regulator on that tractor will also run you a PILE of money and in my opinion is something akin to shooting yourself in the foot. Then you'd have that damn old generator. It wasn't fired away the first time for no reason...

Here's a link to the alternator with tach drive conversion unit.

I have seen some SPENDY alts with tach drives. however.. you also have the option of getting the tack drive that fits in the plug just under the oil fitler.. perhaps driven from the pump drive? Might turn backards' though.. menaing new cluster.. someone like Rodins or RickB might have better info for ya.. I've still got the genny/tach drive on mine..
