A couple years back I bought this tractor that had trans problems. With help from many of you I found the problem, obtained a used part, and everythings been fine. Since then it has given me no trouble what so ever, but yesterday something strange happened. After going around behind the barn to get a scoop of gravel I put it R1 and nothing happened so I used R2 instead. When I switched to a forward gear there was nothing. I tried all forward and reverse selections, but I had nothing.

I shut it off and checked the fluid which was at the correct level, actually perhaps there was too much because the fluid came pouring out of the hole when I removed the plug. Anyway I got my shop manual to find the chart that shows which servos have psi in certain gears ( I still have psi guages at the no. 2 and 3 servos from the original repair). The tractor had now been off for maybe 10 minutes, but when I started it back up to check the psi's, everything worked fine. I drove it around a while and there were no problems.

Any thoughts?? Thanks

This is a WAG from someone who doesn't own a sos.. but does watch SOS messages with interest.

From what I know of the system, the inching pedal is actually a valve.. perhaps this valve was sticking or?? had debri in it?

someone should be along shortly to offer a real answer vs my left field guess.
