Hi, I have an 81 3600 diesel that doesn't get much use or fondling, took the twist plug off the gear end of the injector pump the other day to check lube and couldn't feel any lube of any sorts, gears were even dry (hasn't been run in 5 wks). Checked my manuals and can't find any info on this. Any body have any info on this? Should there be lube there? what kind and how do you check the level? The pump I believe is the distributor type as adverse to in line.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Gidday Tomb you have me a little baffled so I will be interested in the answer to this one also.
Distributor or rotary pumps are lubed by the diesel itself, and I don't recall any twist plugs where you can see the drive gears thru.
In line pumps have a twist plug breather/filler and a level bung on the side of the governor housing ahead of the lift pump.
They take 5/16 U.S. quart of the same oil as the engine, or at least the Minimec ones do. But I don't know what drive gears you would see down that filler cap unless you could see the rack quadrants.
Interested as always Dicko
