Hi, I am trying to repair my transmission PTO. It would not engage. I removed the pto shifter and all the linkage looks good. I removed the bolts at the rear of the tractor which suround the pto shaft. The pto shaft will still not pull out. Is it possible that it is jammed into the sliding coupling? does this mean I will have to split the tractor and will I be able to? It is a 4 speed trans LCG model. Thanks for the help. Richard

I'd pull the hydraulic cover before I'd split the tractor. The cover is heavy so you'll need to be prepared for the weight - I pulled the one on my 3000, just! Was all I could lift.

With the cover off you can see down into the PTO clutch area. I had to rework mine because it wanted to slip out of ingagement. It is a simple dog clutch and the lever was not fully engaging it - don't know why. I compensated by elongating the cover holes so I could rotate the cover some.
