What causes my 1969 3000 to flutter at high rpms, and when a load is applied it clears up? Also, does any one know, what is the correct grill for this tractor, the 2 piece or one piece. Does any one know where to get an aftermarket instrument cluster,or used one. thanks

My 69 3000 that I bought new has a two piece grill My 5000 Diesel Flutters like you talked about and I was told that one of the injecters had the spray a little off. It didn't bother me enough to fix it . So I don't know if that is right. None of my other Fords do that. The cheapest after market cluster I have seen has been on ebay. But there is several places that carry them.

Woody, I have an early 1968 3000 English that has a two piece grill. I know that this grill with the head lights mounted in it was changed in April of that same year, but I don't know to what. As for the instrument cluster, try your local New Holland dealer for an exact replacement, but they're expensive. Here is an after market one listed on E-Bay.

By the way my 3000 is a 3 cyl deisel with a simms pump also. The only problem I have had is the control leaver sheared off at the pump and the pump had to be completely rebuilt. Otherwise the tractor runs great.

My 1969 3000 has a one piece grill. Mine has a gasoline engine. While it does not have "flutter" at high rpms, it does have a slight hesitation before the governor kicks in - could this be what you are experiencing? The instrument cluster must still be available because the used tractor dealer in Emigsville, PA puts a new one in with "0" hours on the meter after he rebuilds the engines.

Has your tractor always hesitated. I have had other tractors with different carbs. and never had the pause that I have with this one. I have a 3cyl. 4000 and a remedy would be great Thanks Mark

I bought it a few years ago when my neighbor traded it. It has has the hesitation for quite a few years. There are only about 100 hours on the engine since it was rebuilt and the hesitation issue existed prior to the rebuild from what I've been able to gather. I almost don't notice it now that I've gotten used to it.

I bought the tractor in 1999,and it has always done it. It is a diesel, with a simms pump. I read some where about a problem with those pumps that causes this.
