I have a 12V converted 850. I don't yet know if it has a 6V or 12V coil. I do plan to check if it has 1.5 or 3 ohms resistance internally.

My dealer sold me a ceramic encased 0.5 ohm resistor, after I told him the tractor was running very smothly when it quit very suddenly, and I was unable to draw a spark off the coil high tension lead.

Q: Is this half ohm resistor likely for a 6V coil, as in the "N" series, or does it sound correct for a 12V coil for the 800 series with a 12V conversion?

Many thanks in advance,

Rusty

My 641 will run smoothly and suddenly die for no apparent reason; usually before she completely warms up. I think this may be due to a bad ignition switch. I haven't been able to trace it out yet and usually after cussing a bit; turning the key off & on, removing it and putting it back, a couple of times she will start up and run fine. When this happens the starter button doesn't engage the starter either so perhaps there is a problem with the interlock too. Don
