I've owned a 4600 1980 for about one year now in the hills of Wales and its great! The only problem is that to start it on a cold morning is not somthing to be rushed. How does the factory heater work on this machine (air/fuel warmer?)or is there a kit avalable to fit a heater to it? The machine is a standard UK spec with cab and the key only turns to the right.

There are block heaters available that fit in the core plug holes. They heat the coolant with an electric element. I believe the Thermostart, which burns fuel in the intake manifold to supply start up heat, is only supposed to be good down to 5oF.

There is an un-detented position in the keyswitch that energises the thermostart. Just past "ON" , the dash lights will go out, but the starter is not yet engaged. This is where the T'start is energised. 15 to 40 seconds, depending on ambient temp.
