I don't have much experience with buying used 3 point equipment and wanted to run this by you guys. I need and have found a used 6' Gill Pulverizer with 2 rollers. It has had very little use, andhas nothing wrong with it. The guy wants $675 firm for it. Does this sound like a fair deal? Any input appreciated!

Jim,

That is probably a decent (not great) price on that piece of equipment but I got to ask, what are you trying to do. A cultipacker is a very specialized piece of equipment used for pressing seed into well prepared soil. This would not be my first choice for the first tillage tool I bought. A tiller attachment is not that much more expensive than you are talking about and does alot more for you from breaking new ground to touching up last years garden. A disk harrow would be another consideration if you are working alot of ground and a drag harrow will do wonders at leveling.

if it's in good shape that's not a bad price.check to see if it's a super gill.you can tell by the 3 point frame.if it's soild flat plate,it's a super.if the frame is made of bar stock,it's a standard.the super gill can be fitted with a seedbox,but their not to practical.for what your doing you don't need a cultimulcher.good luck.

I am using it for fine grading in the installation of new lawns. I've used them before with excellent results. Don't know what a cultipacker is, but it doesn't sound like the tool I'm talking about.

Then maybe I am confused as to what it is. I thought it was similar to a box blade with some spike teeth and 2 rollers that compact what you just loosened. I always considered them a glorified cultipacker.

Never mind my advice. What I would recommend is going over to the implement forum here at YT and ask the question there.
