Thank you Tony, Walt and Roland for your input as to what I just purchased. You are all a wealth of information and for those of us who are new to this endeaver, I thank you for your willingness to share your information.

Although I think I have a pretty good buy and the tractor is in decent shape overall, it has a few problems that I will have to fix.

First I think it needs a tune up. It barely pulled itself on to the trailer to get it home and once I got it off the trailer, it quit firing altogether and is parked in my yard (which my wife really appreciates). Of course at the auction it idled beautifully.

My main concern right now is that the PTO will not shut off. Even when putting our foot on the shaft to try to stop it,,,it keeps on spinning. I read in the archives that perhaps the PTO brake needs adjusting? Any other ideas?

Also,,,it has NO brakes. Can they be adjusted? Or do I need to get new brakes? Is this a difficult job? Expensive?

Thanks in advance for any help

Zeek look on the left hand side of your tranie behind where your foot is, you should see a handle coming straight up move it from the front to back. That is the controller for the pto. That should turn off the PTO. good luck AJ
