Hi Mel, I just thought I would post for you about your tractor front end problem, give me a call or email me if you need parts. Sherman/Napco did build front axles just like Elenco did but I do not believe they ever built an Industrial unit for the 1801 series tractors. Thanks Tony Jacobs

Hi Tony,

Thank you for your response.

I am not very knowledgeable about Ford Tractors. I purchased what I was told was a Ford 801 with a Sherman Backhoe and front bucket several years ago for use on a "play" farm I own. Upon further investigation I am led to believe it is in actuality an 1801. I am not sure what the differences are, but my tractor had NO PTO nor does it have locking breaks.

It does have what appears to be a live front axle drive unit, but it does not work.I found that what appears to be a slip clutch (for want of a better description) on a shaft running between the transmission and the front axel pumpkin. This part is completely stripped out inside.

I can send you pictures of the part and one of the complete front-end axel if that would help.

Mel

You probably have an Elenco Front wheel assist. The guy who knows about these, and has parts, is Tony Jacobs. You can contact him-
