!948 8N Stuck Transmission

Neighbor has a 1948 8N and was plowing snow this winter. He shifted from first to neutral-let out clutch-still in first gear. (At this point clutch allowed rolling of tractor) Then put in reverse-
let out the clutch and heard a snap-transmission locked up-clutch won't allow movement at this point. WE would appreciate any ideas on where to start to try to troubleshoot this. Thanks in advance.

take off cover and manual with a big screw driver or crow bar slid the gears into neatral if something seized het and lubed will be rquired. teh rubber booty around the shifter on my 8n rot off and sat for 20 years and was locked in gear. had it rolling again with in 20 minutes, but couldnt drive it becasue motor was stuck for so long from moisture. oh well got her running then sold it. email me for more info seyca29@aol.com
