I posted a message a week or so ago about my 3600 getting oil on the brakes even after I replaced the oil seals in the axle housing. The grease seals in the bearing retainer - along with the locknuts, bearings, races, etc. Now after 9 days of non stop rain I was able to remove one of the axles. The seals look fine and the axle has no play. But oil is getting into the grease and the grease/oil mixture is getting on the breaks. The only other theory is from Al English suggesting a clogged vent. Well I looked all over the rear of this english made 3600. Granted it has a cab that makes looking very hard, but I could not find one any where. So I looked at my I&T shop manual. It does not list or show a vent. Will it have a vent? If so where? If not, then how does it vent?

I saw the post you made last week, and was skeptical of the vent theory all along. However, if you would like to chase this lead, I can tell you where to find the vent. It is in back of the tractor on the lift cover. Specifically, it is one of the bolts that holds the draft spring retainer in place.

If you look at your top link bracket, find the pin that attaches the top of this bracket. This pin is attached to your draft rod. Behind that you will find a cast housing which contains the draft spring. This housing is retained with 3 - 7/16 inch bolts. One of these bolts is drilled hollow all the way through. This is your rear axle vent.

Let us know what you find.

Hi David, There needs to be a way for pressure to equalize, but I'm afraid I can't tell you where it vents. Hopefully someone will have the answer...Al English
