I have a 1955 Ford 660 and was planning to change from the older cartridge type oil filter to a new style spin off filter. First, should I do this, and second, will I need to get the 3/4"-16-3" bolt, bushing and nut set-up to remove the old insert from the engine block.

Also, if one of you guys have done this and are happy with the results, will you sell me the bolt / bushing / nut set-up to remove the old insert. (If, I need it)

Thanks

I have the spin off on my 841 and put it on sons 641. Got both kits from Ford dealer, no after market. Cleaned every thing very carefully and installed new gasket carefully. Takes a 1 and 1/4 socket. They work like a charm and no hasel now. They have been on for nearly 3 Years.

I'm guessing that the 660 is simular to the jubilee... I just switched back to the cartridge type from the spin on type and all it required was a 1 1/4" socket.. it was a 5 minute deal on the jubilee.

I have a 801 with the conversion, nothing but problems, I've had 3 different adaptors and the still leak, maybe only my problem. I'd rather have the cartridge or cannister type.

I tried to convert to the spin on filter on my Jubilee and could not get the engine insert out of the block. Tried proper sized socket and even having my 17 year old son standing on the wrench for added turning power, to no avail.....

Sent the conversion kit back and put the original cannister filter back on with all the proper gaskets and it has no leaks.

Good luck!
