I'm looking at maybe buying a Ford 4000 on LPG with 4 speed, The man told me that a hydraulic line going up into the rear end or differential or something like that had busted. And that is why he parked it. Well that and the fact he got another 4000 that has all the goodies like live PTO and some kind of easy hook up 3-pt that this one don’t have. It's been setting a couple of years or so. No live PTO and no power steering.
He said $2300 for it. What do ya’ll think?
Looks to be in fair shape. He said it will run. Could I add Live PTO to it? If so, what would that cost? Can it be change to regular gas?

the lpg is not the problem.. the pto and more so the 4 speed it really a big problem... so is the 4 speed in high or low range?... most were in the high range and made the tractor almost impossible to use for farming.. so check out this and the mysterious hyd problem carefully.. or better yet.. pass it up and move on..

Carl,

I agree with tlak, if you're looking at a tractor that doesn't have what you want or need on it, it's a exercise in futility to make the purchase. There's a lot of tractors out there for sale, I'd look long and hard for another before I'd settle.

Good lunk.

Mike

If you're wanting to add keep looking. You might check into filling the propane. The person I bought my property off traded a propane because he had to drive it to the propane place everytime he wanted to fill up.
