Could us some insight. My neighbor has a this tractor, but I've been plowing our driveways with it. He had a hyd. leak, I found and fixed that, but in the process we found out he had been putting 90 gear oil in the tractor for a long time instead of trans/Hyd. fluid. He bought the right stuff and had me drain the old stuff out. I put the right stuff in and now it will not lift at all. My uncle who is quite handy said that something "gasket/O-ring" is probably blown out from the high pressure. Is there any simple things I can do, or are we talking about a major tear down to the back half of the tractor. Thanks for any help.

Rob

The way I bled my tractor was to simply cycle the control lever back & forth with the engine at about 1200 RPM. It took about 5 minutes of doing this for the lift to begin responding even slightly. After 10 minutes, the lift was moving properly with no hiccups. No problems since then.

The other way of bleeding the system is to loosen the high pressure output tube coupling on the hydraulic pump to help clear the air from the pump. I've never done this because I haven't needed to. Get your hands on a I&T Shop Manual for your tractor; it has a complete description of the pump and how best to bleed the system.

The hydraulic pump most likely lost it's prime. Bleed the pump and see what happens... If it worked before you drained the system, chances are that it is ok. I had the same adventure with my 2000 when I dumped & refilled the hydraulic oil.

Thanks Jim. How exactly do I accomplish that?
