My 2nd attempt at posting....hope it works!
My 3000 cannot be stopped completely with the brakes(brakes just rebuilt). In every gear including reverse, the tractor idles forward very slowly. It will only remain still ,in park.It seems like it is stuck in low gear.Clutch in makes no difference.Haven't been able to find anyone aroound here willing to tackle it(western New York).
Also trying to find out the year of manufacture....there is no decal anywhere(including over the battery)Is there any other way to tell?Any help will be much appreciated..Bob

Bern....The # I found in the location you suggested is...C5NN 7006 BS.

I also foundd C5NN-4024-U ,on the differential.
Aren't these just Ford part numbers or casting numbers? How will they indicate what year it is?

Bob, those numbers are casting numbers, and are useless for date coding. You didn't find those numbers where I told you to look. I told you that the numbers were STAMPED on a pad right behind the starter.

Go to Oak's site at www.springfieldbiz.com/oaktree/fordtractor.htm There you will find a picture of where to find the numbers, as well as how to interpret them.

Gents, thanks for the replies. It creeps forward when the brakes are applied,no matter how hard you step on the brakes. There are only neutral and park when it won't.If it is in reverse with the inching clutch depressed,it creeps forward also.
I'll try to find the serial # on the tranny as Bern suggested.....shouldn't be too hard, just had it pressure washed..... ...Bob

You need to purchase a repair manual for this tractor once you find out what it is. I would suggest a band adjustment on the transmission first, easiest thing to do first. Bern-maybe 1st gear band to tight?

Are you saying that no matter how hard you stomp on the brakes, that you can't get the unit to stop? Or is it that the tractor just creeps without the brakes applied? If it is the former, my hunch would be that something is wrong with the inching valve and/or linkage. If it is the latter, then I'm thinking you have a warped and dragging clutch pack inside that is not completely releasing.

There is no decal on top of the transmission. These numbers are stamped, and should be visible after you take a wire brush to all the paint and rust that is likely present at that location. It is on top of the trans, right behind the starter on a horizontal machined pad. When you find the numbers, post them all back here, and we'll interpret them for you.

Better yet, check out Oak's site. I'm not sophisticated enough to do the link thing, so you'll have to copy and paste: www.springfieldbiz.com/oaktree/fordtractor.htm

Does it function properly when you want it to move? Does it creep forward in reverse or backwards?
That's an inching pedal, not a clutch technically.
You need to find the serial number in order to determine the year. Bern will know how to fix it.
