'73 3000-lift does not respond to left lever

The lift on my '73 3000 does not respond to the lift lever like I think it should. I have to raise the lever to within a 1/2" of the stop before it will raise, and then it wants to raise all the way. I can position the implement by lowering the lever until the implement starts to drop and then slightly raising it again when I have the implement where I want it. I do have the draft/position control lever in position control. This was a real pain yesterday while moving snow with my back blade and trying to get the blade an inch off the ground to keep it from digging up the gravel in my driveway.

On my '52 8N, this problem would indicate a worn cam follower pin, but I don't know anything about the hydraulics on this particular tractor. I've got a FNH shop manual, and the hydraulics part has four chapters (1-Dexta 2000, Super Dexta 3000 & Major 4000; 2-Super Major 5000; 3-piston type pump; and 4-gear driven pump. I could not tell if I should use chapter 1 or maybe 3 for my tractor. Would appreciate some info on this, also.

In addition, I have a SelecTrol valve on this tractor because I have a remote hydraulics lid on my lift cover. I haven't experimented with adjusting this because I thought it only applied if I was using the remote hydraulics (I'm not).

I would welcome any suggestions or advice.

Thanks..... ..... .Ed

Hi Ed from Fred I had that same problem yesterday up here in Ohio. Didn't move like that when the weather was warmer. I'd like to be brave enough to add 2 or 3 quarts of automatic transmission fluid to the oil and thin it up a little and see if it does that slow motion stuff then. If you're braver than I am , post your results. Fred from the Mung Factory

I have had my 3000 for several years and thought that was normal as it has always worked that way ! If you find a cure I would like to know also . My 4600 works differently and well . Will move to and stop at any place the lever is set.
