I got tired of priming my hydraulic pump when it gets really cold, so I was replacing "O" rings. I removed the sump cover plate to take a look, and noticed that there was a ragged looking hole under the lift cylinder exhaust tube between the sump and the main reservoir. It almost looks like it got blown out, or hit with a hammer, but it is painted orange like the rest of the inside of the hydraulic portion of the center housing. Also, there is a V-shaped groove on the outside of the center housing near the same spot. Is this normal? Or does this indicate damage and an attempt to repair?

P.S. the hydraulic pump manifold used to have the wrong rings at the pump end.

FYI - after replacing all four "O" rings on the hydraulic pump manifold my tractor primed itself. Before that it wouldn't hold prime, and I needed to remove the plugs in the pump to get it to prime at all. Of course, it is above 40 degrees fahrenheit right now, so only time will tell...
