Our 4000 has the 6 volt system and just put new generator on. Polarized it and it works. However, the charging light goes off at idle like it is supposed to do, but burns brighter as engine rpm"s increase. Do i have a bad voltage regulator?? Any suggestions??

Try measuring the field terminal voltage, from F to GND, and measuring the output voltage, from the B+ terminal on the back to ground, and then email me. If you want a simple test: start your tractor at NIGHT. Turn on the headlights, run up the RPMs in neutral, then jumper from the B+ terminal to the field terminal. If the headlights get alot brighter, then your VREG is not working properly
