If your tractor is actually obtaining speeds anything like you indicate, it has a Sherman overdrive in it. The shift lever is on the left side if the bell housing if it does. Shift it out of overdrive to slow it down if it has this auxiliary transmission in it.

BOB,
If your 2000 is a 6 or 8 speeds, it is a very good tractor, perhaps : "le meilleur en ville". You can have all info you need from your local New-Holland dealer, Implement & Tractor manuals and those from this site.

HI ROGER....THKS FOR RESPONDING. MY 2000 IS A 4 SPEED AND SO FAR IVE GIVEN IT LITTLE USAGE DUE TO THE COMMUTE INVOLVED. WAS WONDERING..IS THE 2000 NORMALLY A HIGH SPEED TRACTOR AS 1ST SEEMS GOOD FORUP TO 10MPH BUT 2ND SCOOTS ME UP TO 25 OR SO. SINCE I HAVE SOME ROAD/ROCK WORK TO DO WOULD LIKE THE SPEED REDUCED SO NO DMGE TO MY BK BLADE OR SLIPPING THE CLUTCH ETC. WE MIGHT SNEAK DOWN TO TRINI NEXT WEEK ASSUMING THE SNOW STAYS IN THE SKY AND DOESNT FALL ON MY HEAD.

They don't go over 30 mph in high gear, so you've got something not right here. Either the Sherman deal, or you have an 8 speed & are in high range.

HI DON...AND THKS FOR RESPONDING. WENT TO SEE THE NEW HOLLAND DEALER IN PARKER COLO AND HE SUGGESTED I ORDER THE 3 BOOKS THRU AN 800 NUMBR. YESTERDAY I DID JUST THAT AND APPARENTLY THE OPER AND SERV MANUAL WILL BE COMING IN A FEW WEEKS. I ALSO OWN A 1949 AC MODEL D RD GRADER W A SIX CYL FORD ENGINE INSTALLED AFTER SOME WELDING WAS DONE TO ENLARGE THE FRAME A BIT. IT HAS HYDRALICS TO RAISE THE BLADE BUT A MANAUL PIN TURRENT TO SPIN THE BLADE...SURE LIKE IT
