Need help in removing the race from the hydraulic pump on a 1963/64 4000. Destroyed the seal to get at the race, but even after lots of pounding, haven't been able to budge it. Any suggestions? Heat it? Cool it? Weld it? I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.

If it is a trans mount pump like a 5000 then you should be sure you can even get the bearing separate. Ford/NH quit selling parts for pumps along time ago. You can get the whole pump from NH but you can buy new pumps from several catalog suppliers much cheaper.

I'm assuming you're talking about a race for a tapered roller here. If so, weld a good bead all the way around it, obviously on the race itself. After it cools, it should darn near fall out on its own.
