Jubilee vs 3000

I currently have a '53 Jubilee. In the past 8 years I've gone through much of the tractor. It runs really well and has a heavy duty loader on board. Neighbor is selling his 3000 diesel with a down pressure loader. It looks like it is in decent shape but it hasn't been loved. He will let me "have" it for $3,800. Is there any compelling reason why I should take the time to try and sell my Jubilee to get the 3000?

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the sound advice. I'm not going to take the chance for such a minimal gain. Much appreciated. Mark

I'm with Bern here. There are too few clear advantages to the switch, and too many questions concerning "what if" that you have already addressed with your Jub. Upgrade to at least a 4000 type chassis, or run what you've got.

Other than a few more gears in the transmission (8 speed), you really wouldn't be getting that much more machine in my opinion. You would still be stuck with a poor design front end and drum brakes.

It probably depends on how badly you want a new project. The Jubilee is a more "collectable" tractor, and around here a really clean Jubilee would bring more than a 3000 that was only fair. Maybe you could get enough out of your '53 to buy the $3000 and still have enough left over to put it back into shape.
