Ford Series 601 model 641 PTO will not engage

Recently purchased Ford 601 from local vintage tractor saler. Used approximately one week cutting "Dallas Grass". During cutting, would constantly have to raise shredder due to fact the engine kept "bogging" down.

During one of this times of raising the shredder, shredder began to vibrate more than usual. Then noticed that the shredder drive shaft was not turning.

Look at PTO connection and notice oil pouring out of the PTO coupling area. PTO will not engage now. What have I done??

You can grab the end of PTO shaft and turn with hand. You can move the PTO engagement lever with clutch engaged, and nothing happens. With the clutch disengaged, if you move the PTO lever you can hear and feel the gears grinding.

I am not a mechanic. Is this something I can fix, or does a professional need to repair? If so, what is the estimated cost of such a repair?

Just a guess. You may have twisted the pto shaft. The only good way to tell is to remove an inspection plate and take a look. If the shaft is broke, it should not be difficult to replace. Besides, part of the fun of owning an old tractor is working on it.
