Back in 1988 I purchase a Grey Fergy of a bloke down the road who bought her brand new.
The tractor is in prefect order although the compliance plate is hard to read. It has an option which I have never seen before on TEA's, has low and high gear range set up with selector on the side of the gear box housing.
The person has since past away but one thing I do rember he said he ordered this specially with rotory hoe which I have as well.Because I commeneted to him about the low range.Wether the Hoe has anything to do with the low range, which I think he was indicating. (Is the low range set up something rare or not). William Smith QLD., AUST.

Is it on the right hand side of the tractor, in conjunction with the oil level measurer? if so it could be a Howard reduction box. I don't think they are too rare as I have seen quite a few. If the lever is on the left it could be an eliptical reduction gearbox, which also makes the tractor longer, these, I believe, are very rare.

I am no expert on the low range other than what I have read on this and the Ford 9,2,8N board. The low range feature is quite rare . It's purpose was to allow the tractor to have a slow enough ground speed to have to rotary hoe do a nice job. The low speed should not be used to pull heavy loads shuch as plowing . It is to be used for slow speed only and not for power transferred thru the drive wheels. Good luck!
