About low oil pressure problems:
My TO-20 has just started dropping in oil pressure. It stays around 22psi at idle but drops to almost 0psi when it is reved up. Any suggestions as to what may be the problem?

I'm not sure what type of oil pressure guage you have but some sending units have a sort of diaphragm in them and when they get old they will get a crack or pin hole in the diaphragm which will cause the pressure to equalize on both sides of the diaphragm causing the gauge to read 0. Does the pressure come back up when you let it go back to idle?

Yes it returned to about 22psi at idle. I have since purchased a rebuild kit for my oil pump. One of the gears had come loose from the shaft to which it is supposed to be permanently attached. It hold near 30 psi at all times now. Thanks for your input

Regardless of the problem, DO NOT USE this tractor until it's resolved. Your entire valve train, and the cam and rod bearings are all at stake here! Drop the pan and carefully pull the oil pump out. Remember, the oil pump bolts also hold the front main bearing cap on. You need to get some shorter bolts to keep the cap on.

Good luck!

The problem could be in your oil pump. There is a screw that holds the gear on and it may have come loose, and at low RPMs it still turns but at high RPMS it spins free. If it turns out to be the pump I have one till noon sunday. Mark H.

You can see a close up of the screw on the gear if you look at ebay Item #1688311892 this is a TO-20/30 pump. That might be your problem. Mark H.
