The starter drive on my Lucus 6V starter broke. I can't seem to find a new drive or suitable substitute. I read in a earlier message that the Delco-Remy used on a TO-20 will work for a TEA-20. Would it also work on a TE-20? If not, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I had this same starter problem shortly after I bought a new Ferguson TE20 back in 1948 and I couldn't get parts for the Lucas starter. You can use a TO Delco starter without changing flywheels if you cut the TE flywheel down and slide the ring gear farther back in order for the starter drive to align up on the starter gear. I solved my problem by using a starter off a 1949 Chrysler Six cylinder. 50 years later and its still twisting her tail....

Can this part be fixed welded etc at a shop? Look for a used one off a junked tractor lots of parts on the net. Try a Case IH dealer as I believe some International tractors had Lucas starters on them I may be wrong but seem to remember that my neighbor got an armature from the UK for his International tractor. Hope you find one.

Just went thru the same thing with my TE-20. The Delco won't work unless you replace the flywheel too. There is no such thing as replacement parts for the Lucas starters. I called all around the country trying to find help and ended up having to buying a new Lucas starter. I got mine from Pittsburg tractor parts
