Hi All;

Does anybody know if all the Sherman trannies fit the Ferguson TO30's or only certain ones. I've read where some would fit an 8 or 9n but not a 2n and that made me wonder.

Also, any comments from those of you who may have had any experiences with one of these would be welcome. And if anyone knows where I could buy one (high and low)! Thanks

I have a Sherman H/L cable one do you need it? It was in a 1952 8N I was going to strip the tractor into a plie of parts to get rid of the whole tractor the easy way. Mark H.

Hi Tyler

The sherman trany from an 8n will work but the case needs to be machined to fit.I believe a sherman from a 9n will bolt right up to the TO30 and TO20. Go to Smith's tractor page and ask john about it.John knows shermans!! Also check the artical archives at the ford 8n forum.Good luck

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm from western N.Y. I'm going to look around locally for a Sherman but thought I should really know what I'm looking for first. No sence buying a unit that won't fit my tractor.

Have a high @ low but use the 30 mostly for finish mowin and snow plowin, so don't use either one much. I'm never on the road but if I was, high would be too fast for me. It flys. Have used low for pulling wagon loads of timber at times so I like having it.

I have one in mine and love it! I mainly use low when working not sure what it would be like with out it. High is HIGH and it moves fast but with low you can go slow and control the blade in close quarters! On the road when you put it in High 4th you haul A** to fast for me I did it today going down the road and would have hated to loose it going that fast. I am not sure if with out one the gear ratio is like in the middle of Hi/Lo any body know? Mark H.
