I have the tracks and skis for my TO30, but no idler wheels and related gear. This mounts between the front and rear wheels (not the full set of tracks that go over the front wheels). Does anyone have pictures of this? I thought I would build some idlers if I can't locate some. I have seen some pictures of the TE20 Fergy's used on the Antarctic expedition but can't see any detail. For those of you interested in history, Vintage Tractor & Machinery Publ. has a book out, The Fergy "20" Family 1937-70 with some interesting info, serial numbers etc.

Lastly, my rocker arm assembly is getting pretty noisy. Father in law overhauled the engine years ago and forgot to hook up oil lines up there until it started ticking. Anyone got a good assembly for that Continental?

Have Operating and Assembley Instruction manual for Bombadier tractor track attachment B-TTA-21, if you are interested.

You might also try "Rocker Arm Specialists". As a data point they recently quoted me $97 for my Triumph TR3 assembly, which is very similar to one from a TEA20. They put bushes in the rockers and ream them to size, re-do the tips, and I think include a new shaft. I've heard nothing but good things about them, and the website says they do Continentals. Email them at: [email protected]

Regards,
Jim

Thanks for the reply Mark. I'm leaving for S.Dak. in the morning and will let you know if I need it. I have a couple of salvage yards to stop by on the way. Did you put the Sherman in your tranny or did you buy the tractor that way? I really would like to stick one in the 30. It's a little fast for some jobs the way it is. I remember hauling hay with an 8n and running full tilt with empty hay racks when I was way too young to drive!! Wow I'm lucky to talk about it. (we practiced out "speed shifting" with it...)

There's a guy in Missouri that rebuilds rocker assemblies on new shafts. It's not real cheap, but he can rebush your rockers and assemble them on a new shaft. He did mine, and it's really quiet. I think the shaft he uses costs $80 or so, but it'll cost you a couple hundred by the time he's put in new bushings and added labor.

His name is Jerry at Union Auto Supply in Union, Missouri. You can get the number from Switchboard.com.

Good luck!

Larry

The N Newsletter has the manuals and maybe the parts lists for these units. Jump the Ford N board and I think there is a link to the newsletter site.
