PTO shaft wobble

After adding a clutch overide that brought my 1 and 1/8 PTO shaft up to 1 and 3/8, I noticed there is quite a wobble in the shaft. Is it a major project to replace the PTO shaft with a new straight one? How do I go about replacing the shaft, or is a wobble something I can live with?

I am going to remove the ORC and see if the shaft itself is straight and then post another message.

I'm confused. Did you have the wobble in the shaft before you installed the ORC? Or is the wobble only because the ORC has some play and thus wobbles? If the latter, I would not worry too much about it unless it is noticeable when an implement is turned on, like can you see a wobble with bush hog running, etc. If you do have to replace the shaft, you might be able to drive front wheels in a ditch or jack up rear, and thus avoid draining all the fluid.

I posted a question about the over ride coupler just below and was curious about the wobble you describe. Is the PTO tractor shaft actually bent or, as described in some of the other posts on this subject, is this part of the "sloppiness" and "play" with an ORC? If it is "sloppiness" and "play" I would like to know how much is acceptable.

Hi!
I've recently replaced the pto shaft off my te 20. it is not hard. Drain the transmission case oil (using the three bungs in the bottom of the case) and undo the four bolts holding the shaft in place. The shaft then slides straight out. Make sure to take care of the gasket, and when refiting the new shaft, ensure the bolts are tightened evenly. I'm don't think it is safe to live and put up with a bent shaft, but I've never tried it myself. Hope this helps!

I installed an ORC on my TO-30 and it wobbled because of sloppy fit. It would rub against the collar around the pto shaft. I have a pto extension that was used for a cornpicker. I mounted the ORC to that and it works fine. I had to shorten the drive shaft to the bushog so now that is the only tractor I can use on the bushog. It seems it would be hard to bend the pto shaft.
