When I was a teenager back in the mid seventies, I worked a couple days for an old farmer putting in hay- his was ready and the farmer I normally worked for didn't have any ready to bale. The old guy had 3 Fergies as I remember and each was equipped with a wolf whistle that ran off the manifold. I would love to find one of these for my to30, original or repro. Anyone know where a fella could find such a thing? Anyone even know what I'm talking about?

check ebay.com do a search for wolf whistle. They're on there all the time.

Hey Tyler:
I can't help you with that wolf whistle but was wondering if you could help me. You responded to a fellow about a front snow plow blade. I have one and am having the darndest time hooking it up. I have ordered a manual from N news (am told it's a dearborn) and am afraid the snow is going to get here first.Any help?

Hi Sean;

Without seeing what you've got (that and being one of the most mechanically inept people you could possibly find) it's hard to say. Does your frame run underneath the tractor? Are you by chance having problems with the brackets on the plow frame not lining up with anything on the tractor? I take it you have a cable powered set-up. If it was designed to fit a Ford chances are that you will have to modify the brackets to fit a Fergy. I did. Let me know where your problems are and I'll do my best.

Hi Tyler:
A couple of yes answers and a whole lot of I don't knows. It is a cable hook up. The frame does run underneath the tractor, it comes to a "V" up front with what seems to be a pretty simple attachment to/for the 6' blade. I am assuming the cables do not go all the way to nor do the attach to the blade. I have four brackets total. Two are easily attached to the underside in the rear. The attachment of the other two remain a mystery. It appears that they would bolt through the front axle but an angled edge is throwing me for a loop. Although there are two holes on each bracket that line up to the axle I am wondering if one of the holes is actually for the threaded cable end,leaving the other to mount to the axle. I could type on here for about a week but I am headed out to try and find a metric crescent wrench. Any thoughts,insights,words of encouragement would be appreciated.

I wish I could take pictures and show you how my set-up works--that would be easier than trying to explain it.

You only need two bolts to hold the front bracket to the front axle support, at least that's all I have and it works fine. The cable runs from the drawbar to a pulley on the back of the frame, then unerneath the tractor to another pulley on the front of the frame, then to another pulley just above it and down where it attatches to the section of the system that holds the plow and the angle adjustment. This section pivots on the front of the plow frame. The cable doesnt run through anything other than the pulleys. It will drag on the ground when the plow is in the down position but since it's only dragging in snow it doesn't concern me much. If you didn't get confused on your search for a metric cresent wrench, I'll bet you are now. Let me know if I can "help" anymore.

From your explanation, I am either missing a pulley or two or I have a different type of plow. This angle adjustment is attached to the plow and the whole animal pivots as a unit, much like a rear blade. It also has only one pulley per side that carry the cable from the drawbar. I may have better luck with the metric crescent wrench. Let me know how your light problem turns out.

Sounds like our plow set-ups are similar, as my plow and angle adjustment both pivot as one. My set-up only has one pulley in the back near the center of the frame then two others on the very front of the frame right next to the angle adj., so I'm kinda confused when you say yours only has one pulley per side. I do know that some of the gizmos for snowplows did have two cables, maybe yours is one of them. Hey, if you haven't already, go to the 8n9n2n sight on this board, look in the archives under snowplows and see if that helps.

And, yes, my light problem is solved. I guess you can hook them up either way but since I had my headlights already hooked up pos. wire on light to neg.batterie terminal, that's what I did with the back light and it works! At least so far. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
