just out of curiosity can you retro power steering on a to-30

Unless someone has done a custom modification i do not belive that powersteering showed up on fergusons until the MF-35 and it was probably an industrial or a utility model. However there is a way to get the same effect using what has been refered to as a "torque amplifier" check out this Site Link

I once read or heard that you can use a power
steering pump from a car or pickup truck, hang it
from a custom bracket, and drive via the fan belt.
That's only part of it, though. The original
seering assembly (housing and everything in it)
must be replaced with with a power steering
assembly. The TO-35 was offered with both
standard and power steering and I don't know if
that would bolt up to your TO-30. Maybe someone
else knows if these units are interchangeable.

Ya it's called a Suicide Knob on the wheel and a cramp in your hand after hanging on to it for a few hours having your front wheels jerking your arm around when going over piles of snow. Now I am only jokeing! Good question don't know the answer, I am just worked up a little from the last post. Mark H.

The steering box on a TO-30 would haft to be re/done completely. It would be really hard to rig up a ram on the system and of course you would need a pump too. Not sure if you would break things if you made it so there was no kick back on the steering wheel. I have heard of the gears breaking and that must have took some forse to do it. Seems like it would cost a lot and take a complete re/work of the steering system. Mark H.
