Hi!
I'm kinda puzzled. I've just had all the major electrical parts of a TEA fixed, BUT, the tractor still won't start. All I can hear is a faint spark- sound from the starter. Any ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated, as the grass is gaining!!!

If the engine is not turning over and you are getting slight sound from starter, and battery is good, first thing to check is the battery cables and their connections. Check especially the ground cable connection. You didn't give much info, but will it start if you jump it from another running vehicle? How about if you run hot cable from that running vehicle battery to your starter and then just touch a ground spot on the tractor with the other cable from the running vehicle battery, will it turn over then? That bypasses all the cables. (Try it without key on first just to see if it turns over.) If so, likely battery cable problem in my experience.

Yes, I've had the starter "rebushed" by an auto- electrician, he also checked the voltage regulator and the generator, and said they were fine. I've checked the ground connection, and that is pretty solid, with no oil covering it. I'm wondering, would a complete rewire at least solve the connection prolem? Thanks for the jumpstart- on- starter idea.

I shoulda added: If you get same result when you do that test, probable starter problem. However, you stated you went thru the electricals, so I assumed starter had been tested or overhauled, maybe not good assumption.
