Question about a TEA steering box

NO you don't have to remove the steering box to retime the steering selectors.

Selector retiming procedure

1 Back out lash adjusters 3 full turns (sloted head bolt with jam nut near the top of the steering box).

2 Set the right arm pointing forward and the left arm pointing backward (away from each other)

3 put a little down pressure on both arms and turn the steering wheel to the left.The steering selectors should engage the pinion(steering wheel shaft).If this is done correctly the steering arms will be pointing to the foot pegs with the front wheels going straight.

4 Check your drag links with the wheels straight, if one drag is too short and the other is too long then the timing is off by one tooth. Try steps 2 and 3 skipping a tooth untill your allignment is back to normal.

5 Readjust the lash screws.After the drags are reinstalled, turn the wheel to the left full,adjust both screws in untill the pinion and the selectors are toughing then snug up the jam nuts. Do the same in the oposite direction.MAKE SHURE THE LASH SCREWS ARE NOT TOO TIGHT ON THE SELECTORS.Tight lash screws will brake the steering box every time!!

First of all please don't use unnecessary bad language, it only makes us not want to help you and makes you look like an idiot.

Secondly, your steering box unbolts from the transmission and you'll have to do that to mesh the gears back in correctly.
