TO-20 Light front end

I love my TO-20, and it never lets me down. However, when I'm using a heavy implement such as a brush hog or snowblower, I'm tired of doing involuntary wheelies. Has anyone attached weights to the front end? If so, how'd you do it?

I just got an extra set of wheels from a junk
yard and had fluid put in them,cost under$50.00,
and i can switch them back and forth.

Hello; I might be wrong but it seems to me you would want to put the weight on the wheel rims and not on the axel due to the extra strain on the front end parts, when bouncing that extra weight when coming down would be tranferd to the moving parts and on the rims it seems it would only go to the tires and rims. Let me know if I am wrong about this? Mark H.

I've got a TO30 so there's a rim difference, but I use the optional factory front wheel weights(estimated total-100#). They are made in two pieces and fit into the back side the rim. This is just enough weight to stabilize the front without making steering difficult. I can still raise the front by lifting the 5' brushog going uphill, but that's a no-no anyway.

Great idea, Ray! My Fergie came with rear wheel weights, I didn't know they made front weights. Do you know a source for them, and what they might cost?

You may want to fabricate a front bumper something like mine. The tube across the front is filled with steel pieces from a hole punch machine. It weighs about 100 lb. If the link below does not work try>Link

Do you have a bumper? If so, there are suitcase weights you can attach to the bumper. Or you could weld a shelf onto the bumper and lay concrete blocks on that, etc. The key is the bumper. If you don't have one, I'd start with that, either bought or home made.

Here's a picture of my TO-20 with the two front-end brackets I use instead of a bumper. I can hang a total of four 90 pound suitcase-type(international) weights on each side to keep the front end down for tractor pulling. The brackets still allow the hood to tip forward (thanks to my father's ingenuity!)

Wow, Scott, what a beauty!! You did a great job!! My Fergie runs great, but needs a paint job, which I'll do in the spring. I really like your "weight holders". If I can't get wheel weights, I'll try to have either something like that or a bumper welded on.
