TO-30 Exsaust UP/REAR Fire Reasons?

Hello; I read about a Ferguson that started a fire with its exsaust system! Has anybody had this happen and is it recomeded to mayby direct the exsaust up instead? What are the pros and cons? I live in a very dry area prone to fires and now I am concerned. Give me your point of view. Thanks, Mark H.

one other thing, vertical stacks are great as long as you have no low branches to manuever under.

If you put the exhaust up the noise will be "exhausting", so definitely wear ear protection if you don't already.

common sense rules this issue. don't let the tractor sit in high grass. fires start with the exhaust pipe/muffler coming in contact with flammable materials.

The TE`s were delivered with both options, and yes i have had this problem,our garage almost burnt down..... . Guess what i did.....
And i have herd that in australia you can only find fergusons with the exhaust going up.

Jone; Thanks! IT wasn't a dumb question and hearing about your fire tells me it happens. When I got my tractor I wanted to keep it original, since they went both ways I will re/route mine up! Eastern Washington is real dry in the summer and as far as common sense gos I wonder what would happen if the tractor stalled in tall grass with a hot exsaust system and you could not move it?? I guess it would look OK going up with a nice Rain Cap on it! Thanks for the comment! Mark H.
