TO30 Purchasing

I am looking at purchasing a '53 TO30 ser#110393. It has a loader and a scraper with rippers. The loader is the bent tubing frame type and has a front mounted pump (I could not see a name). Everything seems to work well with the exception of the tilt cylinder on the bucket, bypassing slowly. The engine starts quickly when cold and runs smooth. Is there anything that you "pros" out there know of that I should be looking for that is a typical problem with them before I purchase?

I have the same setup - a 52 with a wagner loader. sounds just like yours. I've had it all apart. Email me if you'd like some pointers or pics of it.

The big ticket items are: tires, engine (smoke or burn oil), coolant in oil or oil in coolant, tranny shift ok and stay in gear, hydraulics work ok and come all way up and not bounce and not leak down super quickly with implement when shut off, and the steering. The latter can be a sneaky deal breaker as water can get into steering box and freeze and the cast steering boxes are hard to find. Usually tractor with loader is not stored in shed. Since this has a loader, fluid in tires is helpful. Also that makes steering all the more an issue as well as front tires. I have a TO30 with same setup. Hope that helps. Email me if you like.

what would be the cause of the hyd's bounceing /jerking when raised all the way up???
