I've been trying to identify a Ferguson I'm looking to purchase. Thanks to all of you help I now know it is either a TO-20 or 30. The really odd thing is that it has a 5 Speed Transmission. I drove it in all 5 gears yesterday. It also ahs a 2 speed aux. with the shift lever located in front of your left foot. Probably a sherman I'm told. Anyway does anyone know of a 20 or 30 that had a 5 speed? It only has one shifter coming out of the top of the trans case. The tractor looks very stock and not a mixture but maybe the trans came out of another brand. Any ideas??

one last time tom. the shifter you describe is most likely a sherman aux. trans. does this shifter have a dog leg shape? if it does then it is deinately a sherman. there were thousands made for the fergs. and ford N series tractors.they were added on after manufacture of the tractor, a very common dealer option. the TO-20 and 30 tractors have a single gear shift lever on top of the tranny.( four forward and reverse) did the tractor start by engaging the starter by moving the gear shift lever to the upper right and moving it forward, if so then you have a 20 or 30 ferg. did you look for the engine casting numbers ? they are large and easily found on the left side of the engine block.
