TO-30 Throttle lever

On a TO-30 with a Continental engine is there any way to adjust the tension on the throttle linkage to keep it at full speed. I have to keep pulling the lever to full throttle otherwise I slowly loose engine rpm. I think a tarp strap would look real tacky.


By the way Ray,IN, what part of Indiana are you from?

Tom: If what Ray is suggesting does not work, check the condition of the cork friction disk--it may be damaged, oil-soaked or missing all together. Your M-F dealer can provide you with a new one for about $2.00. When you install it, you'll have to adjust the tension per Ray's message. If you replace the friction disk, you'll have to pull the throttle rod apart and off the tractor. This is not difficult, but you should spray all the nuts & bolts down with Break Away (cyclo product) for a few days before you tackle this project. I did mine last winter and it works like a charm. The throttle friction plate below the dash on RH side is supposed to hold the throttle at a set position. To adjust it raise the hood and look just behind the top of the air cleaner and find the throttle rod and the spring tension adjuster. Move the clamp closer to the dash panel to tighten the spring tension. You may first need to clean the cork friction surfaces outside the dash; oil and dirt will cause the cork to slip on the cast throttle friction plate. This proceedure is detailed in the owners manual.

have had the same proplem and taken the time to investagate the cure .opted for the tarp strap,elastic/cloth covered type.
