Would appreciate if anyone could give me a hint or two on how to start my TEA20. This is my first tractor ever and since I bought it I have had trouble starting it. I am a novice at this and the man I bought it from told me he installed new plugs, points, distributor cap and rotor. I bought a new battery (6 volt) and installed new brushes in the starter motor. I have cleaned all connections with sandpaper including the ground. Now it just cranks and cranks and won't start. Thanks to all who reply with sugestions.

Are you making spark at the plugs??
Some times new points need to be cleaned with a solvent.
Hold a plug wire 1/8 inch , Ign Switch on,
Trans in neutral, crank engine with starter and you should be getting spark. The same thing can be done using the coil wire from the dist. cap.
Are the plug wires in the correct holes in the cap? good luck

Ross, after you know you have spark and proper ignition timing, check for proper fuel flow. Check that the plugs haven't fouled from gas or oil. Do you use the choke, where are you setting the throttle, have enough fuel, is the fuel turned on?

Which carbuerator do you have? A little more info please.

My TEA-20 starts with throttle at idle with no choking.

If it sat around without being used for quite a while, it could be that the carb is gummed up. Try removing the air intake pipe, and while pulling out the choke knob, see if the butterfly actually does close. It just operates with a weak little spring, so it may need a dose of penetrating oil and some exercise if it's stiff.
Another thing I've had happen is that the float bowl accumulates crud, and the float sticks. This usually results in excess fuel pouring out all over the place, but I have had it where the needle and seat ended up stuck in the closed position. All the above assumes the electrical side of things is working. Have you determined that you have spark since the work was done?
