Just went down and started my 51 TO30 and instead of registering 20lbs. pressure like it always has, I only have about 5lbs. I'm running straight 30wt.

what would cause such a sudden drop? Oil levels' fine. I don't know how long ago the engine was rebuilt or if it even was but it has been fine for the 2yrs I've owned it. Any advise welcom. Thanks

Dirty/Packed up oil filter? Don't remember how the oil bypass works on this motor. Worth a look see if it has been awhile or if it was cold last night.

Don't be alarmed. The stock gauges are not always accurate. As long as some oil pressure is regestering and the oil level is ok, adequate lubrication is occuring. Have you changed the oil recently? Sometimes the oil will drain from the capalliry tube and allow air to enter, this will cause the gauge to act weird until the oil forces the air out. Try loosening the nut on the back of the gauge until oil seeps out. That's my brainstorm for tonight!

Tyler, If the instructions the other fellows gave you don't work, I'll give you one that works occasionally and has made me smile a time or two. Start her up and take a wrench and smack the underneath part of the dash a little. Sometimes the old De Arsonval movements get sticky and you have to jar it a little in colder weather.
