I was going to put a new Temp. Gauge on my TO30 this morning. I got the old gauge out, cut the old wires and started to remove the probe in the neck of the block. I got the outer screw off, but the probe would not come out. I sprayed some liquid wrench on it hoping to loosen the rust or whatever is holding the probe in. Later in the day, tried to grip it with my needle noses and pull it out, but it is still stuck tight. Any ideas on how I can get the probe out? I don't think it is hurting anything, because it doesn't get hot, (had to replace the bad thermostat I got), and everything is working fine. I would like to hook up the new gauge though. I appreciate the help.

Hi Michael,
I had the same problem. I ended up removing the neck completely from the tractor, inserted a screwdriver inside the housing and pried the probe out. There was just a small amount of resistance that way. After it was out, I cleaned the rust out and the new one slid in with no problem.

Good luck.
Chuck

Chuck, thanks for the help! I'm going to get some PB Blaster and try that-cause I'm in the middle of mowing- and then if that doesn't free it, I'll remove the neck. Again, thanks for the help.
