Standard v/ contenental engines

Having owned several fergusons with both motors,te20 contenental and tea20 standard, I have to say, my vote goes for the standard engine. No cracked blocks and they seem to have a little more HP than the contenentals. Parts are more harder to come by, but can usually be found. Any thoughts out there?.

Which has less mechanical noise from the engine. I have never heard a Standard Motor run except in a Triumph TR3.

Dave, I have to agree. Cracked blocks do not seem to be as prevalent with the standard. The oil filter being external is a BIG PLUS too. Much easier to change than the continentals internal filter.
Parts can be had if you look. Oil pressure relief setting is external too. No fooling with spring tension or dropping pans to get to it.
I have two at the present time and I like'em.
That's my view.
