TEA20 3-Point Lift Not Working

I hope someone here can help me decipher what the problem is with the 3pt. This spring after having to replace the pin on the end of the control valve I cannot seem to get the lift to work. This past weekend I dropped the hyd. pump and checked everything out and everything looks to be in working order. BTW, this TEA appears to have a TO30 hyd pump per the service manual, has the oscillator and the deflector on the relief valve. The PTO shaft is turning, so the pump is operational. Fluid level is good. But, when I raise the control lever, NOTHING. Is there some way that the system needs to be bled of air? What am I missing here? Somebody help me before this thing drives me insane. I'd like to get some use out of it this year.

Are you sure that the spring which is connected between the end of the ram cylinder and the flexable part of the control rods has suffecient tension on it???? If it is not hooked up or if it has minimal tension it will not operate the control valve.

Also I see you mentioned some sraying of oil. NOT! Any sign of spraying oil is bad news. Something is letting the pressurized oil escape before it gets to the ram cylinder. Find out where it is coming from and fix it or it will never work.

Hi Rob Try removing the right side plate and look for splashing oil from the safety relief valve. Also look for oil coming from the stand pipe (may have a split in it).

Or Try This

1 Put the PTO lever in the off position.

2 Remove the pipe plug in the hydraulic lift cover(right or left side it doesn't matter which one).

3 Put the touch control lever in the up position, then rotate the pto shaft. Oil should come out of the lift cover.If you get no oil then the control valve may be stuck or the pump isn't moving any oil.

Give this method a try, then let me know what happens.Good Luck

Thanks for the reply.
It's kinda hard to see anything inside either the side cover or fill cap. I'll try to get a better look at it tonightwith a flashlight. It occurs to me that with the oil cap off there was a small amount of oil spraying inside but not massive enough to totally prohibit the lift from working. I presumed that some of it may have been caused by the sloshing of the pump due to the rotation of the pistons on the pump and cam assy.

With the engine running (and pto on), I opened on of the hyd. ports on the top cover and only a minimal amount of oil would come out, and not very consistantly. But, prior to adding oil I could see that the control valve was moving freely. I'm wondering if some sludge got pushed up into the valve chambers. Any ideas?

Hi Rob
With the tractor running and pto engaged,here should be no oil spraying. Rob I hate to say this but if it were my fergy I would pull the pump. Remove the safety valve, Chamber valves and give it a good cleaning. When I removed and took apart my safety valve,it was full of old gasket material and gunk. Also my control valve was scored and sticking from crud in the bottom of the case. Good Luck

Is the linkage hooked up correctly try reaching in and moving the control fork with your hand them start tractor and see if lift works it is quite easy to get the fork not aligned correctly. regards

yes, everything is connected properly. prior to adding hyd oil I visually inspected the control valve movement through the side covers. any other ideas?

is pto shaft turning do you have the PTO lever in the slot so it can move in and out. For it not to work something must be unhooked or totally blown like the pipe or gasket. Or relief valve is stuck open. You do not have to bleed this type of pump but just grab the lift arms and move them up and down. You do have enough fluid in it? regards
