I've been tinkering with my '30 and just gave it a minor tune up. She runs a lot better, especially after replacing the plug wires, but it's very cold where the carb bolts onto the manifold. If you go up an inch, it's a lot warmer. Also, she never did liked to be choked; and always kicks right off when you hit the starter.

P.S. No thermostat and won't get above 140 degrees. Will putting in a therm. help?

It is cold because of fuel atomizing in the carb.

I always use a thermostat. TO30 takes the bullet style, 160 degrees. It fits in upper hose on the end toward block with pointed end of thermostat toward radiator. (Not same as TO35 thermostat which has a flange.) Stevens, in Colshutta, Louisianna, has them. Not sure about your other questions.
