Rear wheel bearing lubrication leak

There is oil leaking from one of the rear brake drums on my TE20, is it coming from the rear diff or is there a seperate lubrication system for the rear wheel bearings? What seal is lickley to be suspect? How easy is it to put right?

This is differential oil and is supposed to run out the axle trumpets to lubricate the axle bearings. The leaking is a common problem as the oil seals wear out. To replace the original seals requires removing the axle bearings which is quite a job. Fortunately, a new seal system is available which fixes the problem with a minimum of parts removal. The new seals are called Sure-Seals and are relatively cheap. You have to remove the breakdrum, and pull the axle shaft out. The Sure-Seal has a rubber gasket that seals against the axle shaft and fits tightly into the bearing retainer. Slide the Sure-Seal down the axle shaft and note the approximate location where it will be sealing against the axle. Polish this area till it is smooth with fine emory cloth. Now clean the axle bearing as much as you can and then pack the bearing with long-fiber wheel bearing grease. Then seat the seal into the rear of the bearing retainer by using a 4ft long 4" plastic pipe. Make sure to get the seal even around the axle shaft.
