There is a Fergusen tractor for sale nearby, but the plate bearing the model number is missing from under the steering wheel. There is a number tag on the side of the engine (Z134698783). A Michigan MF dealer advises me to "run" from a TE due to parts / repair problems for a TE outside of Canada. Absent the model number tag, there any way to distinguish a TE from a TO?

The Z134 Continental engine was used in the TO-35. A lot of the stampings on the cast metal parts likely start with TO or HF or MF or MHF, but I think you may have a TO-35. Look and see where the air filter breather hose connects. Is it a 12 volt charging system? Let us know what you find and we can help further. Good luck, David, MI

If it has lucas electrics it probably is a TE. At least the TE 20 did.
If you have a Z134 engine you may be looking at a 35, F40 or MH50.
